Maxim Zavozin (born March 2, 1985 in Moscow, Russia) is an American ice dancer who competes for Hungary with Nora Hoffman. With Hoffmann, he is the 2009 Hungarian national champion. With former partner Morgan Matthews, he is the 2005 World Junior Champion.

Personal life[]

Zavozin is the son of ice dancers Elena Garanina and Igor Zavozin who competed internationally for the Soviet Union. Zavozin is coached by his mother.

Career[]

Zavozin began skating with Morgan Matthews in 2001. The duo won the 2003 and 2004 U.S. Junior titles and captured the 2005 World Junior championships. Zavozin became a U.S. citizen on Dec. 30, 2005. Zavozin previously competed with Stephanie Ellis. After placing a disappointing fifth at the 2007 United States Figure Skating Championships, Matthews and Zavozin announced the end of their partnership on February 26, 2007.

After that partnership, Zavozin teamed up with Hungarian Nora Hoffman to compete for Hungary. They won the 2009 Hungarian Figure Skating Championships.
